Overview
The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in increasing visibility for our Am Law 100 diversified law firm of more than 1000 attorneys, policy advisors, and professionals across more than 30 offices serving clients in more than 100 practice areas. This position will report to the firm’s Senior Communications Coordinator.
Responsibilities
As the Communications Specialist, you will support marketing and business development efforts and assist with various PR initiatives. Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting and distributing press releases.
- Working with new attorneys to prepare personal marketing materials (bios, client announcements, etc.).
- Writing feature stories for internal and external use.
- Monitoring media coverage and researching emerging trends/topics.
- Intranet and website updating.
- Assisting and posting attorney-authored articles, blogs, alerts, and other related externally published materials.
- Working with the firm’s events team to leverage PR opportunities in connection with upcoming conferences and other speaking opportunities.
- Collaborating with the firm’s digital team for social media content/ideas.
- Developing and maintaining media relationships.
Skills/Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in communications and/or journalism, legal industry experience is preferred.
Excellent writing and editing skills, working knowledge of AP style.
Time management focused, ability to work on tight deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong project management and organization skills.
Professional demeanor, problem-solving attitude, ability to provide tactful, honest feedback.
Ability to adapt to various environments and audiences.
Experience with Meltwater, Vuture, Wordpress, and similar programs.
Ability to manage website content through content management systems.
