The Communications Director is a key position at Cause Communications. A seasoned communications and marketing professional with exceptional client/account management and people skills, the Communications Director is responsible for leading a large body of client work specifically related to our public sector and statewide initiatives. The Communications Director brings a strategic mindset; top-notch ideas and skills in communications and marketing; and a positive, team-oriented attitude to the job. This is a full-time position reporting to the Vice President.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

STRATEGIC MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

  • Manage and lead strategy development of comprehensive integrated marketing and communications campaigns, including public relations, branding, advertising, digital and social media, event planning, message development, and collateral development, among others, for diverse clients
  • Develop and implement communications, marketing, and campaign strategies and work plans
  • Oversee or produce content for a broad range of written materials that embody the client’s brand voice and are tailored to specific target audiences
  • Work collaboratively and strategically with senior-level stakeholders, as well as various partners
  • Manage vendors in the procurement and delivery of services

OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for clients, ensuring project goals are achieved and the client’s service and quality expectations are exceeded
  • Work with Director of Client Services to manage and oversee project timelines, production schedules, and project budgets
  • Act as a team leader with high standards who motivates and coaches colleagues, but also digs into the work themselves
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on-time with limited supervision
  • Lead or contribute to the preparation and implementation of new business proposals
  • Participate in networking opportunities, including trainings and speaking engagements
  • Build and supervise teams necessary for client accounts and projects

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 10 years of experience in marketing communications, public relations, advertising, or related field
  • Three years of experience supervising projects and teams, ideally in an agency or consulting environment or in the context of large-scale campaigns
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, or journalist is preferred

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Record of achievement in marketing communications
  • Skilled storyteller with the ability to package and repurpose information, events, and research findings into stories across channels and platforms
  • Strong organizational, follow-through, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated success with project planning, project management, resource planning, and delivery
  • Ability to translate client needs and requirements into strategic concepts
  • Highly motivated with the ability to self-manage’Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to build and maintain client relations and direct project members
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and other Office products; must be able to work on a Mac platform
