We believe in supporting one another and that, in order to become a leading firm in our space, all team members should play an active role in shaping our firm’s strategy, culture, and organization.

About you and the role

August is seeking an individual to join its fast-growing New York City team. You will primarily be responsible for assisting with management of client projects with an emphasis on litigation support and crisis management. You will provide strategic counsel, develop written materials and help shape the firm’s strategic direction and culture.

What you’ll bring

The ideal candidate will bring agency communications experience – particularly as it relates to litigation support and crisis management – an entrepreneurial and enterprising mindset, a deep understanding of, and interest in, the strategic communications industry, exceptional writing and communications skills, and a network of media relationships.

Specific requirements are the following:

  • Five to ten years of strategic corporate communications agency experience with strong knowledge of our core practice areas, with at least some expertise in crisis management and litigation communications.
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher. A law degree is a plus but not a prerequisite.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, including attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple, simultaneous, fast-paced ongoing projects/activities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent writing and critical thinking skills and experience developing communications materials for complex special situations.
  • Demonstrable leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Office, Outlook, etc.).

What you’ll do

  • Work with composure in high-stakes situations to deliver high-quality strategic communications counsel and materials to clients across our core practice areas.
  • Manage client engagements with minimal oversight.
  • Develop communications materials for all relevant stakeholder audiences.
  • Shape August’s strategic direction and culture.
  • Mentor and empower junior team members.
  • Build and manage client and new business relationships.
  • Effectively liaise with reporters, producers, and other members of the media on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate with client advisors at law firms, investment banks, and other organizations.
  • Support the firm’s new business development, including by developing and presenting pitch materials. Identifying new business opportunities is incentivized.
  • Drive firm development and marketing activities.

To apply, please upload your resume and cover letter to LinkedIn or send both documents to Inquiries@AugustCo.com. We will review your application and contact you if your interests and experience align with what we’re seeking!

What else you need to know
