To drive sustainable growth of our ad business by fusing the online/offline data linked to our customer IDs with cutting-edge technology, creating fresh, unconstrained ad management and analytics solutions that maximize advertisers' marketing ROI. As core members of a brand-new team, we will build optimal ad operations and analysis from the ground up and lead the business forward.

• Department Introduction/Organizational Structure
The Ad Business Department is a newly launched unit that will craft ad operation and analytics solutions aimed at solving advertisers' challenges and growing the ad business, while leveraging synergies with many Rakuten Group services. Centered on the advertiser, we balance the overall Rakuten strategy with the ad business strategy, designing win-win solutions from both business and data viewpoints. A small, elite team of data analysts, data scientists, and ad-operations planners seeks core members who will lay the foundation of an operation/analytics squad dedicated to maximizing marketing impact.

• Background of recruitment
Digital advertising is evolving rapidly, and data-driven strategy is essential. We have launched this new team to build ad operations and analytics from scratch, using Rakuten's vast data to boost advertisers' businesses. We are looking for motivated data specialists ready to lead the industry with data-driven ad strategy.

• Specific Job Descriptions
• Gather, process, and analyze Rakuten online/offline data (user behavior, purchases, ad exposures, etc.).
• Visualize ad performance and conduct root-cause analysis of key KPIs (ROAS, CPA, CVR, CTR).
• Propose data-based improvements and support execution of optimization plans.
• Help build and refine forecasting and measurement models.
• Develop and maintain dashboards with BI tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, etc.).
• Report insights to advertisers and offer strategic recommendations.
• Actively build workflows and better mechanisms for this new team.

• Requirements
• 1+ year of hands-on data analysis/data science experience.
• SQL skills for extraction and transformation (BigQuery is a plus).
• Data analysis/statistics with Python or R.
• Data aggregation in Excel/Google Sheets (functions, pivot tables).
• Logical thinking, problem-solving, issue-finding abilities.
• Communication skills to involve stakeholders and drive actions.
• TOEIC 800+ or the motivation to reach an equivalent score within 2 years.
• Interest in launching a new team and enjoying change proactively.

• Nice to Have
• Hands-on digital ad operation (Google Ads, Meta Ads, etc.).
• Dashboard experience with Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI, etc.
• UI/UX or LPO improvement for websites.
• Basics of statistics/machine learning applied to ad ops.
• GA4 setup and analysis experience.
• Sales mindset to link ad results to the client's business numbers.
