Title: Senior Manager, Communications Location: New York (exceptional candidates in Los Angeles or Chicago considered) Salary: $170-180K Reports to: Client Development Officer
Loeb & Loeb LLP seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking Senior Manager of Communications to lead firmwide communications and media relations. The Senior Manager will serve as both a strategist and hands-on manager, developing and overseeing the execution of comprehensive strategies that support business goals, practice growth and market positioning across platforms. The Senior Manager will oversee a team of three communications professionals and serve as the primary liaison between the firm and third-party communications agencies. Loeb & Loeb LLP operates on a hybrid work schedule and offers a competitive bonus package.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively and strategically identify opportunities to amplify the voices of Loeb & Loeb attorneys, positioning them as thought leaders and experts in their fields to enhance their profiles and the firm’s market presence.
Design annual content calendars; partner with practice group leaders and firm leadership to conceptualize and deliver high-quality, multi-channel PR and content programs.
Lead and manage relationships with the firm’s external PR agency, overseeing firm wide media engagement.
Analyze and vet all incoming press opportunities for alignment with broader strategic positioning efforts, as well as reputation and risk management considerations.
Advise and coach attorneys for media interactions, including message development, talking point creation, research coordination and on-site or live interview support as needed.
Oversee and support the creation, editing, and publishing of all externally facing content, including website content, deal and award announcements, attorney Q&As, practice group descriptions, attorney biographies and firm newsletters.
Supervise the team responsible for legal directory submissions (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500, Managing IP Stars, World Trademark Review), ensuring strategic positioning and high-quality submissions.
Develop and track key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of communications initiatives and guide ongoing strategy.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
Minimum seven (7) years of progressive public relations/media relations experience. Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to craft compelling narratives and communicate with executive presence.
Demonstrated track record of proactively driving communications strategies that elevate individual and firmwide market positioning.
Strong leadership abilities, including experience managing teams and coaching junior professionals.
Familiarity with legal directories and experience overseeing legal rankings and submissions is a plus.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage numerous deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
