- Senior Manager: Business Development, Marketing & Communications

Position Overview:
The Senior Manager will help lead a newly formed department responsible for overseeing all business development, marketing, and communications functions for our IP litigation firm. Serving as the architect and driver of the firm’s growth strategy, this leader will align internal and external messaging, cultivate client relationships, and implement high-impact initiatives to elevate the firm's brand and business pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive BD, marketing, and communications strategy tailored to the IP litigation space.
- Collaborate with attorneys to craft compelling pitches, RFP responses, client proposals, and thought leadership content.
- Lead firm-wide branding efforts, integrating IP litigation expertise in all external communications and digital channels.
- Manage external communications channels—website, social media, media relations, press releases, and publications.
- Plan and oversee participation in externally-hosted events (e.g., webinars, conferences, seminars, awards receptions, panel participation) managing logistics, attendance, sponsorships, and promotion.
- Coordinate with attorneys on firm-hosted events (e.g., webinars, CLEs presented to third-parties/clients, receptions, conferences) to ensure appropriate branding and promotion efforts
- Identify cross-selling and client retention opportunities; build and nurture internal stakeholder relationships across practice groups.
- Measure, monitor, and report on performance metrics—e.g., lead generation, campaign ROI, pitch success, communications reach, etc.
- Ensure consistent branding standards and quality across all materials and initiatives.
- Drive external visibility through awards submissions, directory rankings, and strategic media placements.
Reports to: Executive Committee or Marketing Partner
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in legal, professional services, or B2B marketing and business development—ideally in a law firm or IP litigation context.
- Proven track record in managing comprehensive marketing and BD projects and campaigns.
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to work at all levels of the firm.
- Well-versed in managing digital marketing tools (web, social media), CRM platforms, and event management systems.
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and analytical skills; data-driven thinker.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capability.
- Creative, proactive, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
