Description
We are looking for an experienced and strategic communications leader to join our financial communications practice at Director level. This is a senior client-facing and team leadership role with a strong emphasis on global financial PR, investor relations, transaction communications, and reputation management for listed companies, financial institutions, and cross-border mandates.As a Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving high-impact strategic advice, leading complex client engagements, and contributing to the continued growth of the financial communications offering in Asia Pacific while collaborating closely with global colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior strategic counsel to clients on financial communications, investor relations (IR), transaction support (IPOs, M&A, capital raisings), crisis and issues management, and corporate reputation programmes.
- Lead the development and execution of integrated global and regional communications strategies for financial services clients, listed companies, and multinational corporates.
- Act as the primary client relationship lead for a portfolio of key accounts, ensuring exceptional service delivery, high client satisfaction, and profitable account growth.
- Manage and mentor a team of senior consultants, account managers, and executives - providing guidance on strategy, media relations, content development, and stakeholder engagement.
- Drive new business development, including pitch leadership, proposal writing, and building relationships with prospective clients in the financial sector across Hong Kong, Greater China, and international markets.
- Oversee the delivery of high-profile projects such as IPO communications, equity/debt offerings, perception audits, capital markets days, results announcements, and activist investor situations.
- Work closely with global and regional teams to deliver seamless cross-border programmes, leveraging international networks for multi-market mandates.
- Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and media landscapes in the financial services sector to provide proactive advice and thought leadership.
- Contribute to internal practice development, including knowledge sharing, training, and the refinement of service offerings in global financial PR.
- Minimum 12-15 years of relevant experience in financial communications, investor relations, or corporate PR, with a significant portion gained in a leading international agency or in-house financial services environment.
- Proven track record in leading complex transaction communications (particularly Hong Kong and US listings, M&A, and cross-border deals).
- Deep understanding of global capital markets, investor audiences (institutional, sell-side analysts, retail), and financial media ecosystems in Asia and key international hubs.
- Strong existing network among financial journalists, investors, and industry stakeholders is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and grow a team, with excellent people leadership and mentoring skills.
- Experience handling crisis and issues management in sensitive market or regulatory situations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English ( fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is a strong plus).
- Strategic thinker with commercial acumen - able to identify opportunities, manage P&L elements, and contribute to business development.
- University degree in Communications, Journalism, Business, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications (e.g., CFA, IR-related) are a bonus.
