Description
The Marketing Communications Coordinator for Advancement serves as the primary communications liaison between the Office of Communications and Marketing and the Division of Institutional Advancement, including the Offices of Alumni Affairs and Development/Giving.
This position supports the development and implementation of communications that promote alumni engagement, philanthropic giving, and donor stewardship. Working within a centralized communications team, the coordinator collaborates with advancement staff and communications colleagues to produce content and coordinate projects that align with the University’s brand, messaging, and strategic priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary communications contact for Institutional Advancement, working closely with its staff in Alumni Affairs and Development/Giving to support communications needs and priorities.
- Develop and edit content for print and digital communications, including alumni and donor profiles, impact stories, email communications, newsletters, website content, and event promotion materials.
- Support communications related to alumni engagement, events, fundraising initiatives, and donor recognition efforts.
- Coordinate communications projects from planning through completion, including managing timelines, gathering content, and facilitating review and approval processes.
- Collaborate with members of the communications and marketing team to execute projects and ensure alignment with institutional messaging and branding.
- Utilize communications and marketing tools, including email marketing platforms, content management systems, social media tools, analytics platforms, and advancement systems such as Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, to support the delivery of communications.
- Assist in supporting targeted or segmented communications in coordination with advancement staff, as appropriate.
- Contribute to broader communications and marketing initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years demonstrated success in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
- Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or related environment
- Experience supporting communications related to alumni engagement, fundraising, or external relations
- Familiarity with digital communications platforms and content management systems
- Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or similar CRM systems
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop content for a variety of audiences
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency with standard communications and marketing tools
- Understanding of how communications support engagement and institutional goals
FLSA: Exempt
