Description
The world-class Corporate Communications team at JPMorganChase is seeking an experienced public affairs communications professional to design media engagement strategies to advocate for U.S. public policies that will grow the economy, promote free enterprise, and support the financial needs of consumers, businesses and communities.As a Policy & Advocacy Media Relations Vice President within Corporate Communications you will be a part of the growing Public Affairs Communications team in Washington, D.C., and work in partnership with the Global Government Relations team, including Federal Government Relations, State Government Relations, and Regulatory Affairs. You will serve as a spokesperson for the firm on key public policy issues, building and maintaining relationships with journalists, commentators, digital influencers, and other opinion shapers across with a focus on the disruptor media landscape. You will also coordinate with trade associations and coalitions focused on key policy priorities Washington, D.C. and in state houses across the U.S.
Job responsibilities
- Develop and drive media engagement strategies to support issue advocacy.
- Engage directly with press on and off the record and prepare senior executives for public appearances and engagement with key stakeholders related to public policy.
- Deepen existing and cultivate new meaningful relationships with a broad array of media influencers, including podcasters, content creators, independent media and emerging media and alternative platforms that are increasingly shaping public policy debates.
- Draft official, public-facing materials in response to key public policy issues.
- Identify opportunities in the media that allow us to share our story and shape key policy debates.
- Draft messaging, develop content, and coordinate across functions to support holistic advocacy strategies that inform and engage policymakers and other stakeholders.
- Monitor and interpret the evolving public discourse across legacy and disruptor media to shape communications and advocacy strategy in real time.
- Contribute to and play an important role in crisis communications planning and response, ensuring rapid, coordinated action across stakeholders.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- 7 plus years of experience in media relations, public affairs, issue advocacy, government service, and/or political campaigns, with a strong track record of advancing pro-growth policy priorities.
- Fluency across social media, podcasts, and emerging and disruptor media channels - with established relationships among influential voices and platforms in the independent media space - and a proven ability to engage them as part of a comprehensive advocacy strategy.
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, with experience providing counsel to senior executives and public-facing officials across internal and external audiences.
- Strong strategic planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing high-priority initiatives.
- A proactive leader and self-starter who can motivate colleagues, mentor junior team members, and deliver results both independently and as part of a larger team.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Financial services industry experience with a focus on financial services regulatory and legislative issues.
- Existing relationships with key media figures, digital content creators, independent and emerging media platforms, and opinion leaders informing policy debates.
- Experience advising elected officials, political organizations, or advocacy coalitions focused on economic growth or free-market policy.
- Ability to develop visually compelling presentations to inform senior leaders and build consensus around a strategy.
